The Marguareis Park, established in 1978, protects 7,900 hectares of alpine environment spanning the upper Pesio and Tanaro valleys and the municipalities of Chiusa Pesio, Briga Alta and Ormea. Since 2016, along with the Natural Park of the Maritime Alps, it has been part of the Ente di Gestione delle Aree protette delle Alpi Marittime. Its heart and symbol are the limestone massif of Marguareis, in the Ligurian Alps, which hosts one of the most important karst systems in Europe.

In Roccabruna, in the Maira Valley, the Roccerè is one of the most important Bronze Age rock art sites in Europe, first surveyed in 1993 by the Archaeological Map of Piedmont. It holds the record for the level of concentration of engravings, with over 35,000 cup marks in about 20,000 square metres, and boasts the prehistoric solar calendar aligned with solstices and equinoxes.

At the top of Monte Regale stands Torre del Belvedere, a symbol of the city and a privileged observation point overlooking the vast surrounding landscape. The Parco del Tempo, set up in the gardens, is the perfect place to enjoy a pleasant relaxing stop in the greenery dotted with curious sundials. Napoleon, enchanted by the panorama, defined Mondovì as “the most beautiful town in the world”.
