The Roa Marenca Road

Bike and quad on the Roa Marenca Road - Ph. R. Croci

The roads of the Roa Marenca (from Mondovì to Ormea) were once used to transport salt (necessary to preserve food), a good so precious that it was sometimes exchanged for the same weight in gold! The use of the refrigerator, at the beginning of the 20th century, rendered these routes obsolete, but they are now being rediscovered for their wealth of culture, nature and local food! 60 km of secondary tarmac roads amidst the woods and mountains, from which you can venture (by bike, motorbike or 4x4) onto different ring-route dirt tracks.

The Landandé and Roa Marenca trails have been tested by the editorial staff of the specialist cycling publication, Cicloturismo, which recommended them in its May 2018 edition: find out here.
